Description:

Ale made with malted buckwheat and rice syrup

Ingredients:

  • 9 lbs Malted Buckwheat (mash/sparge)
  • 2.6 lbs Rice Extract Syrup (prior to boil)
  • 1.25 oz Cascade Hops (60 min)
  • 0.25 oz Cascade Hops (5 min)
  • 0.75 oz Goldings Hops (5 min)
  • 1 pkg Nottingham Ale Yeast
  • Dry Hopping:
  • 1 oz Goldings Hops

Additional Instructions

Primary Ferment: 7 days at 68 degrees
Secondary Ferment: 7 days at 68 degrees

Final Gravity: 1.012
Alcohol by Vol: 5.2%

Bitterness IBU: 36.6
Recipe Type: partial mash
Yield: 5.0 Gallons

Procedure:

Mash/sparge buckwheat.

Bring wort to boil, and primary fermentable sugars, return to boil and achieve hot break.

Add hops according to schedule.

Chill wort until appropriate temperature to pitch yeast.

Dry hop after racking to secondary.
