Sierra Nevada Resilience IPA GF Bierly
Beer Style: India Pale Ale
Recipe Type: all-grain
Yield: 5 gallons
Description:
This recipe was created in collaboration with Gluten Free Home Brewing. Bierly Brewing produced one of only two dedicated gluten free beers to benefit the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire fund. We produced a single, five gallon batch of beer and raised $200 for the fund. The beer was very well received. It was initially hazy in appearance, but cleared after 2 weeks in the keg. Because of the quick turn around time of the brew and because we wanted to brew all-grain for this beer with quite a bit of the malt coming from Eckert Malting and Brewing which is also in Butte County, California, we modified this recipe to use the malts we had on hand which included a pound of Naked Dark Biscuit Rice Malt from Eckert that is not generally available. We dry hopped with half an ounce of centennial pellets and half and ounce of cryohop cascade pellets which produced an excellent hop flavor and aroma in the beer. Appearance was a dark straw color to light amber with a lovely bran taste from the Goldfinch Millet Malt. Water salts were adjusted to meet the specifications from Sierra Nevada's original recipe. Adjust your water accordingly.
