John’s IPA is a gluten-free IPA brewed entirely without sorghum, relying on corn syrup, brown rice syrup, corn sugar, and Belgian candi sugar for a rich, layered sweetness. Chinook hops add piney and citrusy aromas, while Safale US-05 yeast ensures a clean fermentation, producing a crisp, drinkable gluten-free IPA with classic American hop character.

Procedure:
Bring to boil. Remove from heat and add corn and rice syrup (this prevents scorching the syrup), return to boil allow to achieve hot break.
1.6 oz Chinook Hops (60 min)
8 oz Maltodextrin (5 min)
1 lb Corn Sugar (flameout)
0.45 lb Dark Belgian Candi Sugar (flameout)
1 pkg Safale US-05 Yeast
Recipe Note: This recipe was most likely developed between 2010-2014 before buckwheat, millet and rice malt was widely available. Therefore, it utilizes many gluten-free ingredients readily found at a LHS or grocery store.
